The Northern Saluki Club - About Us

General

The Northern Saluki Club (NSC) was founded in 1978 with the following aims:

  • To promote the well being of the Saluki.
  • To promote shows and social events in the North.
  • To encourage other activities for the breed in the North.

If you have any queries concerning the breed, the Northern Saluki Club and its activities, or any aspect of this web site, items for inclusion and suggestions for its improvement, please contact:  northernsalukiclub@gmail.com

The NSC takes pride in its reputation as 'the friendly club'. It extends a warm welcome to all members, judges, exhibitors and visitors from home and abroad to its annual Championship Show, currently held in April; its Open Show, usually held in September; its other activities; and this web site.

NSC Membership

Club membership is by no means confined to persons from the North of the UK. Indeed, most of the members do not live in the north, but come from all parts of the country.

Currently the NSC has over 300 members throughout the country and a growing number of overseas members from Europe, Scandinavia, North America, Australia and New Zealand.

Membership is open to anyone, of whatever age, with an interest in Salukis.

Applicants for membership must normally be proposed by two existing club members and elected by the NSC committee. Overseas applicants will be elected by the committee on application supported by a letter stating experience of, or interest in the breed.

Membership forms can be obtained on application to the Club Secretary. The completed form should be returned to the Secretary, who will present in to the Committee for approval at its next meeting.

Membership fees
are currently Single: £12, Family: £15, Overseas (Non-EEC) £16.

NSC Newsletter

The NSC Newsletter, produced four times a year (March, June, September and December), keeps members in touch with each other, whether breeders, exhibitors, companion or rescue owners, or those involved in racing and coursing, with relevant club activities and Saluki-related events and issues at home and abroad.

Each issue reports on club activities, shows, breed and judging seminars, Saluki welfare issues, animal health matters, features on all aspects of Saluki ownership, details of overseas shows and activities, and forthcoming events. It also includes cartoons, pictures, humorous articles, book and magazine reviews, correspondence, adverts, details of forthcoming litters, and much more.

The Newsletter Editor is pleased to receive items for inclusion from Saluki enthusiasts anywhere in the world. Please send them to:
