Critique – Northern Saluki Club Championship Show U.K. – April, 2018

Firstly I would like to thank the members and committee of The Northern Saluki Club U.K. for electing me to judge your Ruby Anniversary Saluki Specialty April, 2018 Show.

My special thanks to John Owen and the committee for all their hard work on such a smoothly run show.

I would like to congratulate the exhibitors for their attitude and sportsmanship in the way my decisions were accepted, perhaps on a different day, some of my decisions may have been different.  Also a special thanks to the exhibitors for without you, I would not have had such a memorable day and making the day so special for me.

I can’t also forget to thank my hardworking Stewards John Walton-Haddon and George Webster, who kept me so well organized on the day with the running of my ring, that I was free to concentrate on judging the Salukis.

In some of the classes, I found Salukis who I felt could have had a better neck into shoulder/forward in shoulder. There were quite a lot either weak rears or the second thigh was too long, the key word in the Saluki Standard is ‘moderate’.

Overall I was very impressed with the muscle tone of my entry, and very happy with the Saluki heads, and only found a couple of bad bites, and also in most cases the feet were also correct.  And didn’t really find any temperament or pigmentation problems, which is a real credit to Saluki people that exhibited to me on the day.

In some cases, owners of my place getters may think I am being too critical; I try not to be when doing my critiques after I have judged your much loved Salukis.  So if I have offended any one with my comments on their Salukis, I apologise.

Cathy
